The Padres’ minor league affiliates had a mixed bag of success last night as they ended another great weekend of baseball. Let’s take a look down on the farm.

Triple A

The El Paso Chihuahuas defeated the Salt Lake Bees 5-4.

El Paso LF Reymond Fuentes had a perfect night at the plate going 4-for-4 on the night. Fuentes had one RBI and scored 2 runs in the victory; Fuentes’ slash line on the season now sits at .270/.352/.397 since being called up from Double-A San Antonio.

The Chihuahuas have the next three days off as the Pacific Coast League plays their All-Star game on Wednesday, July 16. The Chihuahuas will resume play on July 17 against Fresno.

The San Antonio Missions lost to the Frisco RoughRiders 11-2.

Top prospect Austin Hedges had a rough night at the plate going 1-for-4 with a walk. Hedges season slash line now sits at .242/.288/.363 he will needs to continue to develop his bat as he looks to progress to the big leagues.

Tonight the Missions send Leonel Campos (0-3, 3.50 ERA) to the mound to face Edwar Cabrera (4-6, 3.14 ERA) and the rest of the RoughRiders. First pitch is at 8:05 pm ET.

The Lake Elsinore Storm defeated the High Desert Mavericks 4-2.

Storm starter Coby Cowgill pitched 6 strong innings to earn his third win of the season. Cowgill allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2. Cowgill’s ERA now sits at 4.56 on the season. Brandon Alger pitched a perfect 9th inning to earn his 8th save on the seaon.

Tonight the Strom send Joe Ross (8-5, 3.82 ERA) to the mound to face David Holman (2-1, 4.40 ERA) and the rest of the High Desert squad. First pitch is at 9:05 pm ET.

The Fort Wayne TinCaps lost to the South Bend Silver Hawks 10-7.

TinCap RF Franmil Reyes had a great night at the plate. Reyes went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI including a 2-run home run; he also scored 2 runs on the night. LF Nick Schulz also got in on the action going 2-for-4; he had 1 RBI and score 1 run on the night.

Class A: Rookie Short Season

The Eugene Emeralds lost to the Boise Hawks 6-2.

Emerald 1B Trae Santons led the team in hits going 2-for-4 on the night. Emerald LF Jose Carlos Urena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, his first of the season.

The AZL Padres lost to the AZL Mariners 9-6.

AZL Padres CF Michael Gettys led the team at the plate going 3-for-4 on the night. Gettys had 3 RBI on the night, he now has 12 on the season. Gettys season slash line is now at .292/.376/.361. Gettys also has 7 stolen bases and looks to have a bright future if he continues to develop hit bat.
