The TinCaps and Emeralds enjoyed off-days yesterday, but the rest of the affiliates were hard at work, going 2-3 on the day. Despite the poor record, there were stand-out performances by Alberth Martinez, Derwin Pomare and Michael Gettys.

Triple-A

Box Score

The El Paso Chihuahuas lost to the Albuquerque Isotopes 7-5.

It was a tough night for Donn Roach who surrendered 6 runs on 10 hits in just 4 innings. On offense Rocky Gale and Reymond Fuentes were the stars of the show. Fuentes notched a pair of hits and a RBI, while Gale one upped him with 3 hits and an RBI.

Tonight they’ll take on the Isotopes yet again, this time taking on Stephen Fife (2-2, 6.62 ERA). Donn Roach was scheduled to start today, but was moved up to yesterday’s game so tonight’s starter is unknown at the moment. First pitch is at 6:05 PDT.

Double-A

Box Score

The San Antonio Missions were defeated by the Springfield Cardinals 3-2.

Josh Geer put together a start to be proud of. He tossed 7 innings of 2 run ball and allowed just 5 hits. Unfortunately for him his team couldn’t get enough runs to support him and lost in 11 innings. On offense Cory Spangenburg continued to swing a hot bat adding 2 more hits to his total, while Jason Hagerty came up clutch with a pair of 2 out RBI hits accounting for both of the Missions’ runs. Today the Missions are off but tomorrow they’ll be back in action.

Single-A Advanced

Box Score

The Lake Elsinore Storm defeated the High Desert Mavericks 9-3.

A late rally would not be enough for the Mavericks to overcome the Storm. The 14 hit attack, lead by Dane Phillips and Alberth Martinez was too much to handle. Phillips had a 3 hit night, while Marine drove in 3 with his 2 hits that included a home run. Jeremy Baltz and Gabriel Quintana also went deep. In addition to the great offense Colin Rea was dominant, tossing 6 shutout innings.

Tomorrow they’ll open up a series with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes. They’ll face Chris Anderson (6-5, 4.93 ERA). The Storm will counter with Coby Cowgill (2-1, 5.68 ERA). First pitch is at 10:05 A.M. PDT.

Rookie: Dominican Summer League

Box Score

The DSL Padres lost to the DSL Reds 6-5.

Another tough loss the Padres yesterday. They did scratch across 5 runs, but that was helped out quite a bit from 4 Reds errors. The only guy who didn’t need their help was Derwin Pomare. Pomrae went 3 for 4 driving in 2 runs and scoring twice himself.

Tomorrow the DSL Padres will get a shot to take on the DSL Diamondbacks. No starters have been announced. First pitch is at 7:30 A.M.

Rookie: Arizona League

The AZL Padres defeated the AZL Diamondbacks 9-3.

Box Score

The struggling AZL Padres finally had a night to write home about. In only their 3rd win of the season they were able to do it in blowout fashion. The 1,2,3 hitters, Rudy Giron, Daniel Bravo and Michael Gettys, led the charge by going a combined 9 for 14 driving in 4 runs and scoring 4 as well.

Tomorrow they’ll take on Diamondbacks again. No starters have been announced. First pitch is at 7:00 PDT.

Keep the Faith.
