All four of the Padres’ affiliates were in action last night. The Padres’ most recent international signee, Cuban Odrisamer Despaigne made his first Triple-A appearance since signing with the Padres back on May 2nd. He spent his previous time since signing at Double-A San Antonio.
Triple-A
The El Paso Chihuahuas lost to the Las Vegas 51s 8-5.
Odrisamer Despaigne started his first Triple-A game for the Chihuahuas. He has only made two starts in Double-A pitching 7 2/3 innings with a 1.17 ERA holding opponents to a .154 average while striking out 12. His debut for El Paso did not go as well. He allowed 4 runs in 4 innings off 5 hits and 5 walks while striking out 4. His lack of control could be due to the pressure of the promotion.
Offensively, the Chihuahuas were led by Alex Castellanos who went 3-for-4 with a double and 1 RBI while Jeff Francoeur also went 3-for-4 adding a triple and 2 RBI.
Today’s game will feature Chihuahua starter Juan Pablo Oramas (3-3, 6.09 ERA) against the 51s’ Logan Verrett (2-2, 4.37 ERA). First pitch is at 1:05 pm ET.
