It was bad night down on the farm for the San Diego Padres minor league affiliates as the four teams combined to go 0-4 record. Here is your minor league round up for the San Diego Padres from May 16.
Triple-A
The El Paso Chihuahuas (18-23) lost to the Las Vegas 51s (30-11) 10-2.
This game featured a pitching match up of two young promising right-handers, El Paso’s Matt Wisler and Las Vegas’ Noah Syndergaard. Wisler allowed a run in the first inning and never got into a groove. He was finished after 5 innings allowing 5 runs on 9 hits while striking out 3. Wisler has struggled since being promoted from Double-A San Antonio (0-2, 12.71 ERA). He will need to rediscover his form if he hopes to see the big leagues before the September’s roster expansions.
Tonight’s game will feature Chihuahuas’ Juan Pablo Oramas (3-1, .30 ERA) against Las Vegas’ Dana Eveland (2-1, 4.34 ERA). First pitch is at 9:05 pm ET.
Double-A
The San Antonio Missions (17-24) lost to the Frisco RoughRiders (26-15) 4-1.
The Missions’ Josh Geer earned a quality start in a losing effort, lasting 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Despite lower his ERA to 3.31, his record fell to 1-5. Padres’ top prospect Austin Hedges went 1-for-4 with 2 strikeouts he own a slash line of .287/.343/.442 on the season.

The Storm scored two in the bottom of the inning but the deficit was to0 big to0 late to overcome.
