Well Padres fans, one the two big bats in the lineup that has been missing has returned. Third baseman Chase Headley returns to the lineup, just one night after the Padres offense got 10 runs off Marlins pitching. Headley was hitting just .186 with two homers and seven RBI in 20 games this season. He was 2-8 in three rehab games.
To make room on the active roster, reliever Kevin Quackenbush was sent to Triple-A El Paso. Quackenbush was recalled just two days ago to help out the bullpen.
The man who Quackenbush came up for, Hector Ambriz was outrighted to Triple-A, although he hasn’t quite accepted the assignment. Amrbiz could opt for free agency if he desires.
The Padres had been using guys like Jace Peterson and Alexi Amarista at third base. With Headley back and Carlos Quentin not too far behind, the Padres may finally get their offense at full strength for the first time all year.
The Padres are currently 29th in average, and last in OPS and runs scored.
