Here we go again. We have a Padre down (Chase Headley). Who could have seen that coming? But, don’t go jumping off a bridge just yet. Headley had an MRI today and walked into camp without crutches so, things could be looking up. We should know the MRI results very soon. Best case scenario, Headley is back in two weeks. He will definitely miss the Spring opener on Thursday. Corey Brock talked to Huston Street about the injury that is very similar to the one that caused him to miss 5 weeks last season.

The Spring opener against the Mariners will be started by Eric Stults according to Manager Bud Black. Stults is looking to secure his spot as the fifth starter. Jeff Sanders has a good article up about the difference in pitching style that Stults can provides compared to the other starters. It would appear that if Stults stays healthy, it’s his job to lose. Which means the AAA El Paso Chihuahuas’ rotation could be pretty spectacular.

Speaking of injuries, Jedd Gyorko and Everth Cabrera missed a good amount of time last year. They are working hard to get their chemistry going. Let’s hope the double play combo can keep healthy during the Spring and get this thing rolling.

While we’re talking about staying healthy, here are some good pieces on Cameron Maybin and Carlos Quentin who have both managed to stay healthy for the first few days of Spring Training.

Lastly, here is a look at Baseball America’s top prospects for the Padres Organization. Our Top 10 or 15 will be out soon. Stay tuned. It’s fairly different than BA. See you guys soon!
