Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:

• Jamal Collier wrote an article on the subject of Nick Vincent on the Padres’ team website.  Collier discussed how solid the right-handed reliever has been for the Friars this year, and how he has been one of the most, if not the most, consistent guy in San Diego’s bullpen all year long.

• Shawn Ramsey of FOX Sports posted his most recent “Power Rankings” of all 30 MLB teams.  The Padres moved up from #24 to #19 overall, and their leap of five spots was the most of any big league team over the past week.

• Jedd Gyorko has struggled as of late, and the second baseman’s inability to hit consistently since he returned from the disabled list has put him in Dayn Perry’s (CBS Sportsline) “Fading Away” category of National League Rookies who could be up for Rookie of the Year honors.
