Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:

  • Jamal Collier of Padres.com mentioned how well Will Venable has hit lately.  Since July 14, the outfielder has hit .375 over his last 15 games.  While it’s not particularly impressive, Venable has raised his overall batting average to .245 thanks to his hot streak as well.
  • It finally happened, Friars fans.  San Diego’s lone 2013 All-Star, Everth Cabrera, has been suspended for 50 games by Major League Baseball according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.  This is no shock, especially since his name was linked to the “Biogenesis Scandal” from what seemed like the outset.  Now that “Cabby” is sidelined for the rest of the regular season though, the task will fall to Logan Forsythe and Alexi Amarista to fill in until the 2013 campaign is finished.
