Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:
- Corey Brock of Padres.com wrote a solid piece on how Logan Forsythe is dealing with his current slump at the plate. After he started the season so well, Forsythe faded as San Diego’s leadoff hitter and has not seen much action since Jedd Gyorko returned to the lineup. Nevertheless, Forsythe is staying positive, and the Padres could sure use his versatility down the stretch.
- Brock mentioned earlier in the week that the Padres, who are likely to be “sellers” at the trade deadline, will be looking for “controllable beyond 2013” starting pitchers in exchange if trade away some of their “in-demand” veteran players like Luke Gregerson.
- The Red Sox might be in the market to acquire Nick Hundley to provide some catching depth according to Jeff Todd of MLB Trade Rumors (via Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal). I cannot see the Friars unloading Hundley at the moment, especially because Yasmani Grandal just sustained a gruesome knee injury.
