Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:
- Barry M. Bloom of MLB.com wrote an interesting piece on a couple of San Diego’s prospects who participated in the “All-Star Futures Game” on Sunday: Austin Hedges and Yeison Asencio. The Padres have high hopes for both Hedges and Asencio, and it is nice to see that the catcher and outfielder were recognized for their efforts during minor league play.
- Corey Brock and Jamal Collier shared their thoughts on the All-Star break in a recent article on the Padres’ team website. In the article, San Diego’s manager Bud Black said that the All-Star break was beneficial for his team because, “we [the Padres] have a handful of guys in particular [who the break will benefit], like all teams do, that it’ll be beneficial to have some days off with no baseball activity.”
- Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune shared his first half review of the Friars’ 2013 regular season.
- Chris Cotillo, of SB Nation’s “MLB Daily Dish,” shared his thoughts on why the Padres are rumored to be sellers as the trade deadline nears according to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports.
