Padres Lose Jim Malone To The Mets

The Padres lost strength and conditioning coach Jim Malone, who took the same position with the New York Mets, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York.

Malone has held the position for the Padres for the last seven seasons. He has also been a minor league coordinator with the Indians and Royals. He does have some New York ties, when he was the Mets’ strength and conditioning in 2002.

Malone is most famous for being stranded at sea for three days, when the Carnival cruise ship he was on became stranded at sea when his cruise ship lost power. The story was well documented, with Malone doing an interview with John Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

The Padres have not announced a replacement for Malone at the present time.
