Carlos Quentin will have surgery on his ailing knee, sometime in the near future. Quentin missed the beginning of the season with a knee injury he suffered in Spring Training. Quentin was unable to play in the field, and was relegated to pinch-hitting over the last two weeks of the season.

Quentin’s knee should be ready to go for Spring Training, and the Padres will need his big bat in the lineup. Quentin produced a triple-slash line of .261/.374/.501, with 16 HR’s and 46 RBI’s.

Joe Thatcher will also have knee surgery in the coming weeks, and he too, hopes to be ready for Spring Training. It would not be surprising to see Thatcher non-tendered. He will be arbitration-eligible this winter.
