Throwdown Thursday – Week 23

Every Thursday, we at Chicken Friars will pick the two best Padres performers over the past week and analyze what they accomplished. Then we will leave it up to you, the fans, to decide who earned the week’s Throwdown Thursday’s honor.
Chase Headley was named the Major League Player of the Month for the month of August, with eleven games into September; the switch-hitting third baseman is making a strong case to win his second consecutive player of the month award.
Headley can use his Week 22 Throwdown Thursday award, which he unanimously won after defeating his infield mate Logan Forsythe to further build his case.
The Chicken Friar fans unanimously voted for Headley after he posted a .414 batting average (12 hits) with two home runs and 12 RBI last week. He also included two doubles and a .433 OBP.
This is Headley’s third Throwdown Thursday honor.
Headley is defending his player of the month award; the same however, can’t be said for his Throwdown Thursday title, as he is not nominated for the Week 23 Throwdown Thursday competition.
This week’s competion features a player fresh off of a contract extension, while the other was signed to an extension before the start of the season. Chris Denorfia VS. Cameron Maybin.
