The Padres have their 2012 All-Star, as Huston Street was selected by National League manager Tony LaRussa.

Street, 28, has had a fine season for the Padres, posting 1-0 record with a 1.35 ERA in 20 innings. He is a perfect 11-11 in save opportunities for the Padres. Street also missed 29 games due to injury, but he makes the squad nonetheless.

It seemed as if Chase Headley would be the selection, as he has been the Padres most consistent player this year, but LaRussa opted for the bullpen arm. The Padres have not had a position player they drafted, make the All-Star team, while still playing for the Padres since Tony Gwynn. Gwynn was drafted in 1981.

The All-Star game takes place July 12, 2012 in Kansas City, Missouri.
