Donn Roach Promoted To San Antonio

The Padres promoted one of their top prospects today, as Donn Roach  was promoted from Single-A Lake Elsinore, to AA San Antonio. Roach has been dominating hitters in the California league, compiling a 10-1 record, with a 1.94 ERA in 14 games(13 starts).

Roach was acquired in the Ernesto Frieri deal — a deal that has looked very one-sided for the Angels, as Frieri has blossomed into the most dominant reliever in baseball since the trade.

Padres fans should be very exciting about Roach, however. He might have been the top prospect in the California League, and pitched a scoreless inning yesterday in the Single-A All-Star game. Roach also has the best ground-ball ratio in the minor leagues, and has a power sinker that should play well at Petco Park sometime in the near future.

Roach is only 22, and is the 20th ranked prospect in the Padres organization, according to MLB.com. Roach is a name to watch, and a player who could make an impact with the Padres in the near future.
