Nick Hundley, Carlos Quentin, and Orlando Hudson all sat out of yesterday’s game. Hundley is battling a sore right side. Carlos Quentin has a sore right knee. And Orlando Hudson has a slight groin strain. Padres manager Bud Black does not think any of the injuries are serious, and despite Hundley’s oblique injury last season, he is not concerned.
"Sore side for Nick, a couple days off. He should be OK."
So far this spring, all three players have contributed. Hundley is batting .444/.444/.667 in 18 at-bats. Quentin is batting .533/.588/.867 in 15 at-bats. Hudson, who has struggled, is batting .167/.222/.471. Hudson has one home run, two RBI, and just two strikeouts though in 17 at-bats this spring.
All three players were out for a second straight game. Bud Black hopes to have Hundley back by tomorrow or the next day. Quentin should be able to return sooner, but they are not rushing him. Hudson’s injury is the most tricky, and he may need extra days.
