Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports is reporting that former New York Mets Amateur Scouting Director Chad MacDonald will be named as the new Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the San Diego Padres.
MacDonald, according to Morosi’s sources, will get the job ahead of in-house candidates A.J. Hinch and Josh Stein, both of whom will remain in their current roles with the franchise. MacDonald worked under new Padres GM Josh Byrnes with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 2006-2010. The pair also worked together a decade ago in Cleveland.
