A couple of seasons ago, the Padres had a good base of youngsters called up during a terrible season and they provided a spark. Players like Will Venable, Chase Headley and Kyle Blanks all came up and showed that they could play this game on the big stage. The chemistry in the locker room was AWESOME and the team fought for each other.
That spark and chemistry carried onto last season, where we made a surprising run at the NL West. The players that were brought up helped carry the team throughout the season. We played it out until the last game of the season and just came up short, but it was an awesome run!
Now, we started out the season AWFUL! We couldn’t score any runs and it was a struggle just to watch the team. Players were traded away and dropped and we have another youth movement happening around town. Kyle Blanks is part of the movement again as well as Jesus Guzman, James Darnell, Logan Forsythe and a host of others. This group has been coming together nicely and hopefully they can make a little run this year and continue it onto next year as well.
