It was a damp day out at the ballpark, but the Padres were able to energize their bats for one inning and put four runs across. That is all the boys needed for the day behind Aaron Harang‘s pitching. Harang pitched seven innings of baseball and only gave up two runs. Heath Bell came in for the ninth inning and closed it out and began a new consecutive save streak.
Mike Adams came into the game in the eight inning to try and hold the lead and was getting hit pretty good. Justin Upton hit a double with one out and Miguel Montero laced a single out to right field. Xavier Nady then stepped up to bat and crushed a ball out to center which Cameron Maybin had to jump on his horse out to one of the deepest parts of the ballpark and snag it with a game saving catch.
Jorge Cantu powered the offense in the first inning with a 3-run bomb out to left field. Ryan Ludwick‘s batting average dipped below .200 again with an 0-for-3 effort. Chris Denorfia keeps on hitting and went 2-for-4 as the lead-off hitter.
