Ryan Ludwick wins it with a walk-off homer

San Diego Padres 5 – Atlanta Braves 3

W: Cory Luebke (1-1)
L: Christhian Martinez (0-2)

Ryan Ludwick has struggled at the plate this season and today was his day of redemption. He homered twice in the game and the big bomb came in the bottom of the 13th inning with a 1 strike count and a man standing on first with the game tied. Luddy leaned into one and rode it over the left field fence.

That is the way we are supposed to win it in extra innings. Walk-off fashion and a huge celebration at home plate. The team collectively looked like pressure came off of their backs with that one swing of the bat.

Brad Hawpe even was able to put some things together and walk away with a multi-hit game. Another plus is that he didn’t strike out in the game.

Collectively the team was 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 8 men on base, but they were able to get the hit when it counted. Luddy is the hero today and hopefully that bat stays hot.
