It is difficult to keep track of every player to suit up for the San Diego Padres. Some have come and gone, leaving their legacy with the organization. Others had a brief stint in San Diego and have been completely forgotten about since their departure.
José Azócar and Graham Pauley are two players who were on the Padres' Opening Day roster last season. Where are they now?
2 players you forgot were on the Padres 2024 Opening Day roster
José Azócar
A career Padre, Azócar was claimed by the New York Mets in September after the Friars designated him assignment. In three years with San Diego, he hit two home runs with an OPS just a few ticks over .600. In 2024 Azócar batted .219 in the major leagues before his road with the Padres came to an end.
However, he has been on a tear this spring, batting .355 in 15 games. His 11 hits are the second-most on the Mets entering Sunday.

Graham Pauley
Once upon a time, San Diego thought that Graham Pauley would be an every day MLB player. He never quite had a shot, but his spring numbers in 2024 were decent with the Padres. He batted .306 with a home run, but didn't fall into a consistent role with the club. He played in 13 MLB contests last year, hitting .125 with two home runs.
He was then traded to the Miami Marlins as part of the deal for the Padres to acquire Tanner Scott. With Miami, Pauley spent time with Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Jacksonville, hitting .229 overall in the minors last season.
This spring, the 24-year-old third baseman is clipping a .269 batting average with four RBIs and a double, logging seven hits through his first 10 contests at Marlins' camp. He is hopeful of making the Opening Day roster, and has hung in there as spring training nears it end.
Spoke to Marlins third baseman Graham Pauley on his strong spring and how he's feeling going into the final couple weeks of camp. He has yet to be reassigned and has a shot at breaking camp.#Marlins @FishOnFirst pic.twitter.com/RqkHTEHwYb
