Where do the San Diego Padres stand according to power rankings as the season is six weeks in? We take a look at all of the major lists.

It was an eventful week for the San Diego Padres, as they began inter-league play with a four game series against the Rangers, losing three of four, but came back to take two of three from the Chicago White Sox to keep themselves out of the National League West cellar.

While the week consisted of several ups and downs and momentum shifts, the majority of the power rankings lists this week have the Padres down towards the bottom.

The following power rankings lists are brutally honest with the Padres, maybe even exaggerating their struggles.

ESPN: 30th

The “implosion” which is “picking up speed” is enough for ESPN to put even the likes of the Braves and the Royals ahead of the Padres, who they rank dead last.

"The Padres’ implosion is picking up speed, with their current 2-9 tumble capped by Sunday’s eight-run eighth inning to blow a save against the White Sox. With just one series against a below-.500 team in their next seven, the bad news isn’t about to stop. But GM A.J. Preller’s goal of accumulating talent got a boost with the trade for Cubs outfielder Matt Szczur, and the former prospect finally gets a chance to play regularly."

FOX Sports: 29th

FOX has been one of the more generous lists for the Padres so far this season, ranking the club 27th last week. This week, however, they top only the Braves.

"There’s some optimism in San Diego for the Padres, who have played some decent ball at times and flashed some potential. That’s a positive, right?"

USA Today: 29th

Always putting it so succinctly, the USA Today touches on San Diego’s struggling veteran starter. They too rank the club ahead of only Atlanta.

"Jered Weaver has 23 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings."

Bleacher Report: 30th

A 2-5 week was enough for Bleacher Report to give the Padres the bottom spot. In this list, Atlanta is 28th, and Miami is 29th.
