After it initially sounded like he might be able to avoid going on the DL with tendinitis in his left wrist, San Diego Padres’ CF/1B Wil Myers has been placed on the 15-Day Disabled List.

According to Bill Center at the Padres Official Blog, the decision was made after Tuesday’s batting practice where Myers was deemed not ready to play. Since Myers was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 11th, he will be eligible to return on Monday. The Padres will need him too, as they start a three-game series that day with the Los Angeles Angles.

I had expected the Padres would give Tommy Medica a taste of the big leagues with Myers’ spot temporarily open considering his hot Spring Training. However, the Padres have decided to bring back right-handed reliever Cory Mazzoni from Triple-A El Paso.

The 25 year-old Mazzoni has already appeared in two games this season. In his two innings pitched he surrendered six hits and six runs – including a homerun. So, not super stoked about this move Buddy.

We’ll keep you updated on Wil Myers’ wrist as more news comes out.
