Padres’ fans are impressed with what the front office and new general manager have done over the past month. The fans patience has been rewarded and the fans are showing it! During the Christmas shopping season, fans lined up to purchase season tickets or shorter season game plans for the upcoming 2015 season.

Padres’ chief marketing officer Wayne Partello says the team has already hit record-breaking monthly sales, but declined to mention any specific numbers. “We have been preparing for this,” Partello said. “When (this ownership group) got here, we were preparing for the moment when we were going to make a move. We weren’t coming here to be the sleepy Padres of yesteryear.” Partello said to Jeff Sanders via the U-T San Diego.

It will very refreshing knowing that when the Dodgers and Giants roll into town, it won’t turn into AT&T or Dodger Stadium South anymore, hopefully a little less Caltrans orange or Dodger blue and all filled with Navy blue or Brown. The Padres finally are not penny-pinching anymore, they’re showing that they are serious about winning right now and not waiting for prospects to turn into stars two or three years later, that formula didn’t work.

Fans were been begging for the team to spend money and they finally listened. Kudos to the team even if these trades don’t work out, fans are very happy that the team is finally not okay with just finishing third or fourth in the N.L. West every season.

Sales have also been booming in the licensed merchandise department as well, with people calling in to the team store to get their chance to purchase Matt Kemp, Wil Myers or Justin Upton jerseys.

The best part about all of this excitement and news, the Padres aren’t done yet! Stay tuned with Friars On Base for all the latest updates!
