Wil Myers Player Profile
By John Hiatt
Well Friar Faithful, I don’t know about you guys but i am getting excited! The Padres are set to announce both of their trades today, two big name players are supposed to be officially announced as Padres today, Matt Kemp and Wil Myers.
I will go over Matt Kemp at another time, but right now lets focus on Wil Myers who the Padres are getting from the Tampa Bay Rays as part of an 11 player deal. So who is Wil Myers, and what can he do for the Padres? Lets look into his stats and see! In 2013 he hit .293 hitting 13 Home Runs and knocking in 53 Runs, while playing in 88 games for the Rays.

So can Will Myers be a help to the Padres this year? Absolutely he can! You look at the Padres offense with both him and Kemp in the lineup, it looks like a pretty good lineup, especially after last season when the Padres offense was the worst in the Majors.
The only problem is that the Padres will have a surplus of outfielders, so they will probably end up going with a platoon system throughout the year, between Seth Smith, Will Venable, Kemp, Myers, and Carlos Quentin, the Padres will have plenty of players to choose from when it comes to their outfield, but then yet the off season isn’t over and I have a feeling A.J. Preller isn’t done dealing yet, so maybe there won’t be a logjam by the time Spring Training Starts in February.
We shall see, until then Friar Faithful…
Keep the Faith!
