In today’s Rule V Draft, the Padres didn’t lose any of their unprotected players to other teams throughout baseball, so those players will remain within the organization. They did claim Juan Carlos Gamboa from the New York Mets in the Triple-A phase of the draft. Gamboa is a 23-year-old shortstop, second base and third baseman and hits lefty. In 2014 for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico, which is considered Triple-A level talent, Gamboa hit .306, with 7 home runs and 50 RBI. He also stole 6 bags and had 22 doubles.
