Padres Rumors Kemp

We all know about the Padres interest in Matt Kemp. Remember, you need to get a star in order to bring other stars to your club. We’ve heard about the Padres making their catchers available meaning Yasmani Grandal, Rene Rivera and prospect Austin Hedges. Hedges was supposed to be a part of the package but now it looks like Grandal could be the guy according to Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal.

Again, remember, it’s not done yet and the situation is fluid. If the Padres can land Kemp it can make it easier for the Padres to land other free agents because they see another star player there. You think Nelson Cruz goes to Seattle without Robinson Cano already being there? I do not.

With the Winter Meetings set to begin next week, the Kemp rumor is definitely one to keep an eye on. It also makes sense that the Padres have interest in David Ross as we talked about yesterday.
