Padres Top Prospect Trea Turner Visits Petco Park

The eventual replacement to the troubled Everth Cabrera visited Petco Park before the Padres took on the Giants Friday night. Trea Turner took in some batting practice and infield practice in front of some Padres staff.

Turner hopefully will be a gem of the draft. He can get the ball in play and has lightning-quick speed. With that speed is what he lacks in bulk and plans to hit the weights this coming fall; Turner is still very young at 21-years-old, listed at 6-1, 175 pounds and still has a ton of growing to do.  “There’s a fine line. Obviously, you want to gain some weight and get stronger so you don’t wear down and lose weight and maybe drive the ball a little more,” Turner said. “But I want to keep the speed and stay quick. That’s a big part of my game, maybe the biggest part.” Via Corey Brock of MLB.com

Although Preller probably didn’t have a say in this draft class. hopefully he likes what he sees. Padres need to bolster their future and get back to being one of the best farm systems in the game like they did a few years ago.

Turner, went No. 13 overall in the 2014 MLB Draft to the Padres. So far, Turner has posted .323/.406/.448 in two minor league stints this year. He will now head to Arizona in October to play in the Arizona Fall League.

As Always, Keep The Faith.
