All the affiliates were hard at work on Monday. They combined for a 4-3 record on the day being led by Cody Overbeck, Gabriel Quintana and Trea Turner.

Triple-A

The El Paso Chihuahuas were defeated by the Fresno Grizzles 9-4.

Box Score

It was struggle for the Chihuahuas last night against the Grizzles. The bullpen would let down Keyvius Sampson, who would allow only 1 run in his 4 inning start before the onslaught of runs occurred in the later innings.

On offense, Rhymer Liriano was the big contributor driving a run while going 2-for-3. New addition Taylor Lindsay also added a pair of hits as well.

Today the Chihuahuas will kick off a series against the Las Vegas 51s with Billy Buckner  (4-5, 5.80 ERA) on the mound. The 51s will counter with Cory Mazzoni (1-1, 6.75 ERA). First pitch is at 7:05 PDT.

Double-A

The San Antonio Missions lost to the Corpus Christi Hooks 5-4.

Box Score

The Missions fell back to .500 after a heartbreaking walk off loss in the 10th last night. Starter Justin Hancock pitched well, allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits in 5 1/3 innings. Cody Overbeck carried the offensive load getting the hard half of the cycle, a triple and a homer, as well as drive in 3 of the 4 runs. Yeison Asencio was a huge help providing 3 hits.

Leonel Campos (1-3, 4.13 ERA) will get the nod for the Missions tonight against Brady Rogers (4-10, 4.44 ERA) and the Hooks. First pitch is at 5:10 PDT.

Single-A Advanced

The Lake Elsinore Storm defeated the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 15-4.

Box Score

A 4 run 9th inning rally was not quite enough for the Quakes to overcome last night’s dominating performance by the Storm. They scored in every inning with the exception of the 8th. The 2 standouts in a night that was littered with great performances were Gabriel Quintana and Corey Adamson. Quintana ended up with 3 hits, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored while Adamson led the team with 4 RBI on his 2 hit night.

Although it was lost in the shuffle with the offensive explosion, Bryan Rodriguez was excellent on the mound. He went 6 innings failing to allow a run while surrendering just 5 hits and punching out 6.

Today the Storm will send Zach Eflin (9-6, 3.74 ERA) to face Jharel Cotton (4-7, 5.40 ERA) and the Quakes. First pitch is at 6:05 PDT.

Single-A Low

The Fort Wayne TinCaps defeated the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 6-4.

Box Score

The Cleveland Bronchos changed their name to the Naps in honor of the best player Nap Lajoie. I’m beginning to think whatever minor league team Trea Turner is on should temporarily be known as the Treas because he’s been that good. He added 3 hits to his total in yesterday’s win to raise his batting average to .491 in Fort Wayne. Adolfo Reino also had a night to remember with a pair of hits and a pair of RBI.

Today the TinCaps will begin a series with the Great Lakes Loons. The TinCaps will send Cody Hebner (1-1, 2.81 ERA) to the mound and the Loons will counter with Greg Harris. First pitch is at 4:05 PDT.

Single-A Short Season

The Eugene Emeralds were defeated by the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 5-3.

Box Score

Yesterday was another tough loss for the Emeralds. A pair of positives that came out the loss were Michael Miller and Marcus Davis who combined to go 4 for 7 while driving all 3 of the team’s runs in the process.

Tonight the Emeralds will face Andrew Leenhouts (2-3, 4.23 ERA) and the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The Emeralds will send Thomas Dorminy (0-1, 0.56 ERA) to face him. First pitch is at 5:01 PDT.

Rookie: Dominican Summer League

Box Score

The DSL Padres beat the DSL Orioles 1 3-2.

The DSL Padres were able to squeeze out a rare victory yesterday in game that went down to the wire. Dayon Olmo and Leudy Molina led the way on offense each going 2 for 4 with a RBI. None of that would have mattered had the pitching not held up their end of the bargain. They were paced by Arturo Pena who tossed 4 scoreless innings in his start.

Today the DSL Padres will get another game against the DSL Orioles 1. No starters have been announced. First pitch is at 7:30 A.M. PDT.

Rookie: Arizona League

Box Score

The AZL Padres topped the AZL White Sox 11-8.

Despite allowing just 6 hits the Padres allowed this game to last 12 innings. Adam Moore made his AZL debut going 3 for 4 with 3 doubles and 3 RBI pacing the Padre offense. Jordan Paroubeck and Luis Urias‘ also had 3 hit nights as well and Urias provided the winning run in the 12th.

Today the AZL Padres will get another game against the AZL White Sox. No starters have been announced. First pitch is at 7:00 PDT.
