The Padres placed outfielder Carlos Quentin on the 15-day disabled list on Monday due to a sore left knee. The San Diego native started the season on the DL and did not play his first game until May 13th.

In the 3 seasons, he has been with the Padres, he has never appeared in more than 86 games. This year he has played in 50, and has missed 262 games since joining San Diego.

His return date is undetermined. Due to that roster move, the Padres activated Jedd Gyorko from his rehab assignment and sent infielder Brooks Conrad down to Triple-A El Paso.

Quentin’s injury allowed pitcher Jason Lane to make his first major league start Monday in Atlanta. Quentin was hitting .177 with 4 HRs and 18 RBI.
