It is confirmed by FoxSports: MLB that the New York Yankees have acquired Padres’ third baseman Chase Headley for right-handed pitcher Rafael De Paula and infielder Yangervis Solarte.

This is not shock since it has been speculated most of the season that Headley was eventually going to be dealt by the trading deadline.

Headley has struggled most of this season batting .229  with seven homeruns and 32 RBI, but he has seen his batting average raise nearly thirty points since the start of July.

In eight Major League seasons with the Padres, Headley holds a career .266 batting average and was fifth in the MVP vote in 2012.
