The Padres’ minor league affiliates had a rough night last night going 1-5 with the Lake Elsinore Storm being the only team getting in the win column.

Triple-A

Box Score

The El Paso Chihuahuas (29-32) lost to the Reno Aces (36-24) 12-2.

El Paso’s offense was held to 6 hits last night. One of those hits was a solo home run from right fielder Jeff Francoeur. The former major leaguer is having a solid year in Triple-A, as he is trying to play himself back to the majors. Francoeur owns a slash line of .271/.300/.453 on the season with 10 home runs, 34 RBI, and 5 stolen bases. However Francoeur’s 2014 season may be forever remember for the prank his teammates played on him the first few weeks of the season. If you have a few extra minutes you should watch it.

Tonight is the second game of the current four-game series against Reno. The Chihuahuas send Billy Buckner (3-2, 3.41 ERA) to the mound, making his second start after his cup of coffee with the Padres, against Reno’s Mike Bolsinger (5-0, 1.90). First pitch is at 10:05 pm ET.

Double-A

Box Score

The San Antonio Missions (30-29) lost to the Frisco RoughRiders (35-23) 5-4.

The Missions starter John Hussey kept his team in the ball game lasting 5 innings allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. Rymer Liriano raked at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double and a 3-run home run. Liriano doesn’t look like a player who missed the entire 2013 season due to Tommy John surgery. He is quickly re-establishing himself as one of the Padres top prospects.

The Missions send Matt Branham (4-1, 3.22 ERA) to the mound against Alec Asher (5-4, 3.64) and the RoughRiders in the final game of their 4-game series. First pitch is at 8:05 pm ET.

Single-A Advanced

Box Score

The Lake Elsinore Storm (36-26) defeated the Modesto Nuts (20-24) 6-2.

After a rocky 2-run first inning, Storm starter Bryan Rodriguez earned his first win of the season. He pitched 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. Rodriguez was signed as a non-drafted free agent in 2010. Cody Hebner earned the three inning save, his second of the season.

Storm center fielder Alberth Martinez had a great night in the leadoff spot; he went 3-for-5 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.

Tonight the Storm send Joe Ross (5-3, 3.07 ERA) against the Dan Tobik (1-1, 3.60 ERA) and the Inland Empire 66ers. First pitch is at 10:05 pm ET.

Rookie DSL Padres

The DSL Padres (0-5) lost to the DSL White Sox (3-2) 9-2.
