According to Padres.com’s Corey Brock and Teddy Cahill, Padres third baseman Chase Headley is expected to only miss up to 2-3 weeks due to the strained calf sustained in Thursday’s nights extra inning win game against the Nationals. Headley’s injury occurred while running out of the batter’s box.

Although he is not expected to miss any more time on the DL, this is Headley second calf strain of the early 2014 season.  Headley is currently batting .186 with two homeruns and seven RBI. Jace Peterson was called up from Double-A San Antonio late Thursday night getting his first MLB hit in last nights 11-1 blowout loss to the Nationals.

Headley’s looking for a pay raise and multi-year  contract. With his slow start and repeated calf issue, this current DL stint could impact his negotiations or any trade talks.
