Let me start by saying, Happy Birthday to me. Also, Happy Birthday to ex-Padres Storm Davis, Dustin Moseley and most importantly, Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith. Now, with that out of the way, here’s what’s going on around the NL West and the Fansided Network.

Venom Strikes – D-Backs

As I mentioned last week, Mark Mulder has worked out for several teams including the Padres and the D-Backs. Christian Moffett thinks that the Diamondbacks should back off. He writes that Mulder could go one of two ways when he comes back: Mel Clark (Tony Danza) from Angels in the Outfield or Michael Jordan with the Washington Wizards. Yikes. Let’s hope for Jordan if the D-Backs sign him and hope that the Friars have some miracles lined up if he comes to be our lefty starter. Heck, we could use some Angels just to keep everyone healthy for a full season.

Venom Strikes also has a Diamondbacks Christmas Wish List up. Man, Kirk Gibson has some really elfish (or is it elvish) ears.

 Rox Pile – Rockies

Troy Tulowitzki thinks that newly acquired oufielder Drew Stubbs should be the starting centerfielder. The plan, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, is to have Stubbs be the fourth outfielder. I don’t understand the deabte here. Who is the third outfielder, Blackmon or Dickerson? I’d rather have Stubbs personally.

Lasorda’s Lair – Dodgers

The guys at Lasorda’s Lair are excited about the Masahiro Tanaka posting. I would be too if our team had entered the cheat code for infinite money that it seems the Dodgers have. I honestly don’t care where he ends up. I would prefer it not be in the NL West. But, then again, I would like it to be a team that has Spring Training in Arizona so that I might catch a glimpse while I’m in Peoria in March.

Around the Foghorn – Giants

Geez, Pablo Sandoval is a changed man. He appears to have lost an entire Tim Lincecum’s worth of fat. Good for you Pablo. Let’s hope the loss of weight slows down his bat speed though, for the sake of Padres pitching.

Here’s a great post about Around the Foghorn writer Chris Corbett’s first visit to San Francisco and his awesome trip to see the Giants play. I hope I get to post one of these next year after a trip to San Diego!

There are 49 Days until Pitchers and Catchers report! Hang in there.
