Gott has “gott”en praise and awards at every stop in his high school, college and pro career. In high school he was the Gatorade High School Player of the Year. In college he was the Cape Cod League Reliever of the Year. Gott set the single season saves record as a Sophomore at the University of Kentucky with 22. As a pro, Gott continues to work out of the bullpen. He has a 96 MPH fastball that some would call “heavy” because of it’s hard sink. Gott also features an 86 MPH Slider/Slurve. In 31 innings he struck out 33 while only walking 12 and holding opponents to a .205 average. I know it’s odd to have a minor league pitcher who works strictly out of the bullpen on a top prospects list. I ask you, is the bullpen not important? Bringing in a pitcher, who like Trevor Gott strands 73% of base runners could one day mean the difference between making it out of the NLCS or not. If Gott’s development continues this coming season in the California League don’t be surprised to see more awards coming his way. Also, don’t be surprised to see him right back here on the list next year, whether he is a reliever or not!
