  • Things only continue to get worse for the Padres’ make-shift starting rotation.  According to, veteran right-hander Jason Marquis could require Tommy John surgery to fix the ulnar collateral ligament damage he sustained in his right elbow.
  • With the trade deadline looming, many have jumped on the “Padres Are Selling” bandwagon.  Mike Axisa of CBS Sports reflected that sentiment in his most recent article.
  • In some positive prospect news, Keyvius Sampson was named the Texas League’s “Pitcher of the Week” for the month of June according to Corey Brock of  Sampson, who pitches for Double-A San Antonio, has been on an absolute tear since May 16 of this year.  The right-hander has posted a 7-1 record and a 2.27 ERA since mid-May, and he was even named the Padres’ “Minor League Pitcher of the month” for June.
