Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:
- Veteran starter Jason Marquis was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a right elbow strain according to ESPN (via AP). San Diego’s right-hander started the season off well, and did not lose a game during the month of May. Marquis however has lost his last three decisions, and an elbow strain on his pitching arm is not good news by any means.
- Due to the fact that Marquis was placed on the disabled list, the Friars called-up relief pitcher Miles Mikolas to replace him. In addition to Mikolas’ return to the roster, San Diego is also set to use Tyson Ross in Marquis’ spot in the starting rotation according to Corey Brock of the Padres’ team website.
- Adam Berry of MLB.com shared his preview of the upcoming series between the Padres and the Brewers in Milwaukee. The first game starts tomorrow evening at 5:10 P.M. PDT.
