Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:

  • Sean O’Sullivan, a starter during most of his big league career, was used out of the bullpen on Friday night.  O’Sullivan is apparently going to have to get used to the bullpen, because it appears that he will be used in a “long relief” role according to the Padres’ team beat writer Corey Brock.  Not an easy task I might add for a pitcher who has only 10 relief appearances under his belt (compared to 35 starts) as a big leaguer.  Like a true professional though, O’Sullivan appears ready to help the team in any way, shape, and form, and has a positive attitude about the move.
  • Needing to spark their offense and help Chase Headley out of his season-long slump, Bud Black decided on Friday to move his third baseman into the number two spot in the team’s batting order according to Chad Thornburg of MLB.com.  The move itself appears to be working, especially since Headley has hit .444 (4 for 9), scored three runs, and drove in one during his last two games as the number two man in the batting order.
