Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:
- Team beat writer Corey Brock shared what he believed to be were the “Top Five In-Season Trades” in San Diego’s franchise history. Topping Brock’s list was San Diego’s trade of Gary Sheffield to Florida which netted the Friars Trevor Hoffman.
- The Padres inked recently released third baseman Scott Moore to a deal yesterday. Moore, who was let go by Oakland, has been assigned to Triple-A Tucson according to Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish.
- Now considered by many to be “sellers” when the trade deadline arrives, the Padres could very well be willing to deal two of their inconsistent veteran relievers in the forms of Luke Gregerson and Huston Street according to ESPN.com’s Jim Bowden (via MLB Trade Rumors).
- Phil’s BBQ and the Padres were voted the winners of USA Today Sports’ “Ultimate Food King Challenge” on Thursday according to MLB.com’s Jamal Collier. Phil’s BBQ El Toro tri-tip sandwich was the dish that the judges deemed to be the best.
