Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:
- Corey Brock and Jamal Collier reported on the Padres’ team website that Jedd Gyorko enjoyed a two hit night in his rehab assignment with Lake Elsinore (San Diego’s California League affiliate, Single-A) on Wednesday.
- In other injury news, Brock mentioned yesterday that Yonder Alonso could come off of the disabled list as early as today. Brock also stated that Clayton Richard is opting for surgery on his pitching shoulder. That particular procedure and recovery time means that the left-hander will miss the rest of the 2013 regular season.
- As far as odd news goes, Friar starter Chad Gaudin was recently charged with “gross lewdness” earlier this month. The charge stemmed from an incident back in January of this year when Gaudin allegedly touched the breast of a woman on a gurney in a Las Vegas Hospital according to ESPN (via the Las Vegas Review-Journal).
- Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune wrote a terrific piece on starting pitcher Sean O’Sullivan. The veteran right-hander, who is a San Diego native, will make his first start for the Padres tonight against the Giants.
