Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:
- The Padres signed Hunter Renfroe yesterday for $2.687 million according to Baseball America’s Jim Callis (via MLB Trade Rumors). Renfroe as you know was San Diego’s 1st round pick in June’s draft. The former Mississippi State outfielder was the 13th overall selection.
- Bill Center of the San Diego Union-Tribune compared Renfroe to another former SEC outfielder who the Friars selected in the 1st round of the 1981 draft, Kevin McReynolds.
- In a separate post, Center fielded questions from Friars fans in the newest installment of his “Padres Mailbag.”
- The Padres still need someone to step up in the starting rotation for Clayton Richard. With that particular need in mind, the team sent long reliever Tyson Ross down to Triple-A Tucson to work on his stamina and overall skill-set according to Jamal Collier of MLB.com.
