Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:

  • MLB.com’s Joe Morgan reported that Jedd Gyorko tested his legs with swings and grounders before the Padres’ game versus the Marlins yesterday.  Although Logan Forsythe has filled in admirably, the Friars will need Gyorko back if they wish to remain in postseason contention.

  • Mike Axisa of CBS Sports.com discussed what he believes to be are the Padres “biggest needs” to fill by the trade deadline.  Axisa refers to the Friars as “contenders” and correctly stated that the team is in need of help in the starting rotation and the bullpen.
