Here is the “Daily Roundup,” Friars fans:
- Tracy Ringolsby of MLB.com shared his thoughts about the wild, wild National League West. Now that the Dodgers are making a mid-season push, the West could have all five teams jockeying for a postseason berth over the next couple of months.
- Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune wrote an article on Chase Headley and his current slump. Sanders highlights how Headley’s issues are not enormous causes for concern. In addition, Sanders illustrated that the 2012 National League’s RBI leader could very well get back on track at the plate for the Friars.
- MLB.com’s Joe Morgan reported that Jedd Gyorko tested his legs with swings and grounders before the Padres’ game versus the Marlins yesterday. Although Logan Forsythe has filled in admirably, the Friars will need Gyorko back if they wish to remain in postseason contention.
- Mike Axisa of CBS Sports.com discussed what he believes to be are the Padres “biggest needs” to fill by the trade deadline. Axisa refers to the Friars as “contenders” and correctly stated that the team is in need of help in the starting rotation and the bullpen.
