• Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune illustrated how the injury-plagued Padres have been lucky to have so many versatile players on their roster in 2013.  Guys like Alexi Amarista, Pedro Ciriaco, Logan Forsythe, Kyle Blanks, Jesus Guzman, Will Venable, and Chris Denorfia have all made their presences felt during important moments this year.

• Center also shared his thoughts on the trade interest Edinson Volquez is currently drawing.

• With Clayton Richard on the disabled list, the Friars needed more pitching help.  Jamal Collier reported that the team called-up Brad Boxberger and Anthony Bass to replace the veteran left-hander.  Boxberger and Bass actually pitched a combined 3.1 innings yesterday of mop-up duty after the Dodgers jumped out to a 5-0 lead.
