Kyung-Min Na Released By The Padres

The Padres released six Minor Leaguers today (March 23), among the six is Kyung-Min Na, according to

If Na’s name sounds familiar it is because he was the other player acquired by the Padres in the Anthony Rizzo-Andrew Cashner trade.

Na wasn’t traded directly for Rizzo, that was Cashner; 20-year-old right-hander Zach Cates was the one swapped for Na.

Na, a 21-year-old Korean born outfielder, had a woeful.209/.277/.233 slash line in 30 games played at Double-A San Antonio. He also appeared in three games with Triple-A Tucson

Cates was drafted by the Padres in the third round of the 2010 MLB Draft.

Cates struggled mightily last year in the Cubs’ organization. .

The other minor leaguers who were released today are pitchers Mark Pope, Chris Haney and Michael Broadway, and outfielder Anthony Renteria.

I know it sounds cheesy, but I must say it.  The Padres today are telling Kyung-Min Na, Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Hey Good Bye.
