Kyle Blanks is on the comeback trail. The 6’6, 270 pound outfielder/first baseman is on a mission to play this season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last year. Blanks successfully made it through the Puerto Rican Winter League injury free.

Blanks put up decent numbers with the Carolina Gigantes, hitting .286 with two home runs and nine RBIs. He even was a triple shy of the cycle in one game for the Gigantes.

Personally I’m happy to see Blanks on the mend. I’ve always been a big believer in the guy and would like to see him contribute in 2013.

In November the Padres avoided arbitration with Blanks by signing him to a one-year $605,000 contract. That tells me the organization still believes in him too.
