Padres Sign Sean O’ Sullivan And Two Others To Minor League Contracts

The Padres signed three players to a minor league contract on Wednesday, Corey Brock reports. The three players include San Diego native Sean O’ Sullivan, infielder Gregorio Petit and catcher Rene Rivera.

All three players have an invite to Spring Training.

O’Sullivan is a 25-year-old right-handed pitcher who has played in parts of three Major League seasons with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Kansas City Royals. Last season, the San Diegan from East County, split time between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Royals Triple-A affiliates. He pitched to a 14-7 record with a 4.23 ERA.

Petit last played in the Major Leagues in 2009 with the Oakland A’s. He is mostly known for his solid defense than his bat. Last year with the Indians Triple-A affiliate he hit .260 with 10 home runs and 45 RBIs.

Rivera,29, has played in parts of four Major League seasons with the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins. Last season Rivera played all season  with the Twins’ Triple-A affiliate hitting .226 with 10 home runs and 26 RBIs.
