Brett McCabe now joins the list of former D-Backs employees now working with the Padres.  On Tuesday, Padres general manager Josh Byrnes used the relationship he built when he was with the D-Backs to name McCabe the Padres new strength and conditioning coach.

McCabe, 33, spent the previous seven  seasons with the Diamondbacks, last serving as the minor league strength and conditioning coordinator, where he oversaw strength and conditioning programs for each of the seven Diamondback’s minor league affiliates.

“Brett comes to the Padres with a strong passion and knowledge in the field of strength and conditioning,” said Padres manager Bud Black in a press release. “We look forward to watching him grow and become a vital part of our staff.”

McCabe fills in the role vacated by Jim Malone, who was the Padres strength and conditioning coach for the previous seven seasons before taking the same position with the New York Mets.
