What A Padre Fan Is Thankful For

While we all gather around the dining table today to give thanks for our family, health, and jobs during this tough economy, I’m thankful for other things. Sure, I’m grateful for the things mentioned above, but as a Padres fan I have other reasons to be thankful about.

Here is the list of things I am thankful for:

Chase Headley Still Being A San Diego Padre – This headline pretty much sums it up. With all the speculation that surrounded Headley around the trade deadline, I’m grateful that general manager Josh Byrnes hasn’t toyed with the idea of trading away San Diego’s best player. At this point, Headley is virtually untouchable, unless the Miami Marlins would have offered Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Emilio Bonifacio and John Buck for him.

Chase Headley Hasn’t Tested Positive for PEDs –  While I’m bummed about Yasmani Grandal’s  positive testosterone test, I’m grateful it wasn’t Headley who used PEDs (atleast that we know of). It’s flattering to know that Headley’s season was pure talent and not PEDs based.

Three More Years Of Bud Black  – I am a big Bud Black fan, so I’m happy he is staying with the ball club for three more years. The players love him and the fans love him.
Tyson Ross– If Ross can put it all together than the Padres basically have a steal here. Ross was acquired last week in a trade with the Oakland A’s. Ross is a big power arm who can give the Padres flexibility as a starter or reliever.

This is what I’m thankful for. How about you? Let us know in the comment box below what your thankful for.
