It was announced on Thursday that Headley is the recipient of his first ever Silver Slugger Award.

Just like the Gold Glove is awarded to Major League Baseballs best defensive player at each position, the Silver Slugger award honors Major League Basball’s top offensive performers at each position. Headley  proved that last season he was the best third baseman in the National League as he won both awards.

Headley finally showed the Padres the type of offensive player he can be. Last season the third baseman produced his finest offensive season hitting .286 with 31 home runs and a National League leading 115 RBI.

Headley beat out Mets third baseman David Wright to win the Silver Slugger.
