Every Thursday, we at Chicken Friars will pick the two best Padres performers over the past week and analyze what they accomplished. Then we will leave it up to you, the fans, to decide who earned the week’s Throwdown Thursday’s honor.

Chris Denorfia recently signed a two-year contract extension with the Padres, and the way Deno paid the Friars back is by winning his first Throwdown Thursday award.

Denorfia single handedly beat teammate and Throwdown Thursday challenger Cameron Maybin with a vote of 80 percent to 20 percent.

The Week 23 Champion posted a .529 average with one home run, four RBI, seven runs scored in five games played last week.

This week’s Throwdown Thursday competition will not feature Denorfia, but it will pit a Padre with the most Throwdown Thursday championships against a Padre who is having a career year. Yonder Alonso VS. Chase Headley.

Chase Headley –  Headley is still making a push for the National League Player Of The Month for the month of September. His numbers last week, shows why he should be in contention for his seconde straight player of the month award. For the week, Headley batted .353 with one home run, two RBI, four runs scored and five walks.

Now Padres fans, vote in our poll for the Padres performer of the week.  Is it Alonso or Headley?
